My experience with Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines is an airline that I have never used before, but they always have amazing sales. So before I recommended them to clients, I felt the need to check them out. I can’t send them on an airline that might be b%&*@#!t. My youngest daughter asked to go up to NY and I needed to go check on my grandmother, so I felt like it was the perfect time to try them out.

I ventured onto Frontier’s website to see what specials they had that week, and I saw that I could get three round-trip tickets to Philadelphia from Charleston for $165 total. Say no more! $165 for three flights is the cheapest I have ever paid. Actually, my cheapest flight before this was $110 Savannah to JFK round-trip for one, and I was excited about that! That was also a non-stop flight.

Booked the tickets for my youngest daughter, my son, and myself and noticed there were all kinds of upgrades and options. So the first option was for Discount Den. It was $49 for a year membership and they give you all these reasons why it’s great. Initially I thought that I didn’t want to pay for a year membership to get discounts for an airline that I had no experience with, BUT I ended up getting it because the savings on that flight was the same amount of the membership. So I might as well, right? The bonus of the Discount Den is that usually the sale prices are lower for Discount Den members AND you can book up to six passengers at that price as long as you are one of the passengers. That works, right? RIGHT

Next hurdle was about baggage. So, with regular coach, most airlines allow one carry-on and one personal item. But with with a couple of airlines that have Basic Economy rates, you don’t get a carry-on either. Well, Frontier allows you one free personal item. But not a carry-on. It is definitely cheaper to pay for your baggage at the time of booking. But did I do that? Of course not…. Makes too much sense.. Lol. I was debating which was the best way to handle luggage for the three of us. Finally decided that everyone would pack in their overnight bag and we would put all the overnight bags in one suitcase and check one bag. AWESOME! Mission accomplished. Additional note: Make sure you pay for baggage online BEFORE you arrive at the airport. If you get it at the gate or airport…. *sigh* the cost is going to eat up your savings.

Seats…… okay so I decided to pay the extra fee before flying, because I was traveling with my kids, and I wanted all of us sitting together. Would I have done this if flying solo? Depends on how long the flight is. I selected the stretch seating for the flight up and regular seats on the way back, so that I could compare the two. The stretch seating gave me more than enough room to stretch my legs out. The regular seating on the way back was like typical regular airline seats. Squished. Lol.. I longed for the stretch seating on the way back, but I am sure it was because of the comfort that I had on the way up.

Overall, I was impressed with Frontier airlines. I would definitely use them again.

I plan to put the sales that I think are the best on social media, so be sure to follow me to stay updated on them!
